Leave Specialist

We are looking for a Full-Time Leave Specialist to work at the Company’s executive offices in Fremont, California. The position will report to the Company’s Human Resources Manager and share responsibility for store, office and distribution center employee populations along with one other Leave Specialist.
Key Accountabilities:
•Gather all relevant information for new leaves of absence; determine eligibility for FMLA or other state and federal leave laws.
•Draft and send standardized initial leave letters and packets, as well as other follow up letters.
•Calendar and follow up on all required leave documentation to ensure all necessary documents are received on a timely basis. Check for completeness and seek clarification when necessary.
•Maintain payroll log for employees to be paid benefit time during leave.
•Inform manager of the return to work status of employees on leave and/or any work restrictions. Send written confirmation of any job accommodations.
•Provide advice to managers on how to manage employee leaves and medical issues in a manner consistent with Company policy and legal responsibilities.
•Monitor employee work restrictions. Assist and advise supervisors in making decisions regarding the accommodation of employee restrictions.
•Timely respond to employees and manager with compassion.
•Complete state disability forms.
•Enter employee data and status changes into Company computer systems, including PeopleSoft.
•Assist HR Manager in evaluating and responding to requests for accommodation and collaborate with the Workers Compensation Department as appropriate.
•Work collegially as a team to support the HR and Employee Relations Department team members as necessary and perform any other duties that may be required by those departments.
•Perform weekly leave of absence audits to ensure data entry is accurate.
