Union Shipping Staff

 

Schedule

Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Hours will fluctuate dictated by business needs and must be able to work earlier start times, weekends, overtime, and holidays when necessary)

 

Responsibilities

  • The responsibilities of this position are to perform all tasks involved in manifesting, packing, sorting, and shipping product for Retail Stores and Ecommerce shipments.  This department also has responsibility for loading FedEx and Hub trailers, unloading and sorting inbound Hub trailers, packing retail and processing ecommerce orders thru put to order process thru packing.
  • Stage ecommerce orders, process put to order using RF Equipment using standard operating procedure while meeting productivity standards.
  • Pack ecommerce orders and retail stores that ship in a box using proper box type and packing standards.
  • Create manifest / transfer document for all store transfers as they enter the shipping area.
  • Sort product going thru Hub Network by hub keeping transfers in a FIFO sequence.
  • Consolidate to maximize unit volumes leaving DC on Hub Trucks. 
  • Un-load FedEx and In-house Hub Trailers. Perform the required sort and consolidate functions. Process electronic driver logs as required. 
  • Prepare outbound shipments, with proper seals and communicate to proper departments.
  • Perform work as assigned by department manager.
  • Provide immediate feedback to management regarding discrepancies.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy of merchandise and shipments.
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit and support company’s goals and objectives.
  • Report all maintenance or safety issues requiring corrective action.
  • Able to work in cold / hot environment when unloading and loading trucks.
  • Help to maintain and promote a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Assist in all other areas of the distribution center when necessary.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks, and assignments as required.

Skills, Abilities, Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines/productivity standards and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Good attendance/punctuality record; consistently at work and on time. 
  • Ability to learn new skills and follow directions.
  • Good math, counting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Good verbal communication skills.  
  • Must be able to understand spoken and written English to perform necessary job functions.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail while maintaining accuracy.
  • Must maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times with the highest level of customer service.
  • Individual must be Safety conscious.
  • Working knowledge in the use of warehouse technology including radio-frequency (RF) scanners to perform daily functions is a plus.
  • Previous warehouse/distribution/production experience helpful.
  • Basic knowledge of computer PC skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is helpful.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment setting with physical demands that include continuous standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, working and reaching overhead, using ladders or lifts, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to use handling equipment and machinery including sorter systems, conveyors, RF guns, metal hooks, plastic bags, plastic packaging, cardboard boxes, tape dispensers, and other materials necessary to the production and packaging of our merchandise.
  • Dependable team player willing to do what it takes to get the job done and flexible in scheduling is required based on business needs (i.e.; increased hours, weekends, holidays, and volume of work, staffing shortages, etc.).
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
  • Must be able to work in all areas of production.
