A fixed term assignment for the peak tuxedo rental season. Hours will fluctuate dictated by volumes. Evening, Saturday and Sunday shifts may be required during high volume periods. Must be able to work various shifts when required.
 
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for alterations to rental pants and coats, process and maintain batches of alterations, and repair rental product. Provide support to tuxedo production, including performing all tasks involved in the processing of rental tuxedos inbound and outbound. This includes breaking down and separating used tuxedo garments, scanning and bagging and cleaning and re-bagging shoes. Also includes receiving, scanning, auditing, inspecting and putting away garments from cleaners, as well as shoes, and accessories. Pull tuxedo orders, ensure quality control, matching, and bag finished products. Follow standard work methods, practice safe work habits and comply with all health and safety policies and procedures to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Perform work as assigned by department manager or supervisor
  • Perform alterations to rental pant and coats to include: lengthen or shorten the hems on pants and coat sleeves, relocate buttons, brush items, press or iron as required
  • Process and maintain batches of alterations in a sequential order through the tailor shop
  • Repair rental product to include: replace buttons on coats, vests and shirts. etc., replace waist adjusters on pants, and buckles on adjustable vests
  • Provide support to tuxedo production to include:
    • Breaking down and separating garments from used tuxedos
    • Scanning and bagging garments to be sent to cleaners
    • Cleaning and re-bagging shoes
    • Receiving, auditing, and inspecting of garments returned from cleaners
    • Scanning, measuring out-seams and sleeves, sorting and sizing of garments returned from cleaners
    • Restock garments returned from cleaners as well as accessories for re-use
    • Put away clean shoes for re-use
    • Pull tuxedo orders to include coat, pants, shirts, shoes and accessories.
    • Ensure quality control measures on outgoing tuxedo orders
    • Matching garments and shoes on new rental orders
    • Bag finished product and label destination
    • • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and abide by all health and safety policies and procedures
    • • All staff employees are expected to be available to work in all areas of production
    • • Perform other related duties and assignments as required
  • Follow all company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or all company practices and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Blind Stitch, Sleeve feller, Button, and Single Needle sewing machines. Ability to sew by hand as required
  • 16 years of age or older
  • Ability to work in all areas of production
  • Working knowledge of operating a utility press & spotting board
  • Have the ability to learn to read and understand picking tickets
  • Have the ability to learn to and use R/F (Radio Frequency) Scanner
  • Must be able to work in the Distribution Center building
  • The ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Must be customer oriented
  • The ability to learn new skills and follow directions
  • Must be detail and deadline oriented
  • Must be able to work Saturdays as needed
  • Must be able to lift 30 to 40 lbs (13.6 to 18.1 kilos). Some tasks may require repetitive lifting of 30 to 40 lbs, as well as occasional 50 lb (22.7 kilo) boxes
  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to learn basic computer skills
 
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS
  • This position is in the warehouse and could involves repeated standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, twisting, reaching and lifting 30 to 50 lbs (13.6 to 22.7 kilos) repetitively for long periods of time and over the course of the entire shift.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINERY USED
  • Blind Stitch, Sleeve feller, Button, and Single Needle sewing machines. Steam press, sewing needles, scissors, and other items necessary to tailoring. Metal hooks, plastic bags, plastic packaging, cardboard boxes, box cutters, tape dispensers, and other materials necessary to the production and packaging or our merchandise.
